ABSTRACT

The student teaching (教育实习, jiaoyu shixi) experience consists of approximately 12 percent of students’ overall training, a small percentage of their overall teacher preparation experience. However, students cannot graduate if they under-perform in the student teaching experience. It is thus an essential component to their training because of three reasons: the experience is an opportunity to link theory and practice; to learn how to apply their content knowledge to real life circumstances in the classroom (Yao, Li & Zhang, 2012); and finally, as a means for pre-service teachers to showcase their abilities to people who may play critical roles in their future employment (Hu, 1987; Qin & Zhou, 2001).
