ABSTRACT

This chapter begins with the definition of business transformation, and the integral role it plays with both corporate structure and the individual worker. It discusses the role of the consultant in a business transformation initiative, and the various approaches used by consulting firms today. The chapter discusses the recent reemergence of collaborative innovation, and the importance it carries in achieving and sustaining corporate growth. Consultants play a crucial role in the business transformation process. They bring outside knowledge, process and insights to the client organization, as well as methodologies designed to transform the client's business. Management Consulting Approach – Management Consulting (MC), also known as the "tell" approach, stems from a time prior to World War II, when firms were formed, combining accounting principles with engineering methodologies. Corporate collaboration and innovation feed business transformation, and successful transformation efforts, in turn, contribute considerably to the attainment of an innovative culture.
