ABSTRACT

Chi-square automatic interaction detection (CHAID) examines correlates of several health-related risk factors or behaviours, and it assumes there is statistical interaction among the factors. System dynamics modelling is the use of informal causal maps and formal computer models with simulation to uncover and understand endogenous sources of system behaviour. The chapter describes unaware of empirical examples that combine social marketing with the systems thinking tradition that is system dynamics modelling. The primary purpose of the system dynamics model was to help this academic-community partnership design a social marketing strategy for implementing evidence-based interventions that will increase colorectal cancer (CRC) screening rates among the priority populations. The chapter demonstrates how, through the co-creation of social marketing activities in conjunction with an academic-community partnership, innovative solutions may be generated for eliminating health disparities. The group model-building (GMB) session was held in Tampa, Florida.
