ABSTRACT

In this chapter we discuss the global evolutive paths of an industrial district: the leather tanning district of Arzignano, localised in the north of Italy. We aim to describe here the specific case that illustrates an ‘anomalous’ path of internationalisation. At the beginning, at the end of the Second World War, it was composed of small artisanal firms, but intense development of new technologies in machinery and in new methods of tanning led to a process of growth.
