ABSTRACT
These are hard times if you happen to rely on science. The times are especially difficult if the science you rely on is under attack because it is enmeshed in a politically contentious and emotionally excitable policy fight. And it is even more challenging if you are a public official, find yourself in the middle of contentious energy, natural resources, public health and public investment debates, and want to make a durable decision.
