ABSTRACT
This chapter 2 is partly inspired by the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Born in Americus, Georgia, I was duly impressed by the hospitality and conduct of my native state. Despite tragedy, the games transpired. Peace and joy seemed more prevalent than lawlessness and resentment, and the events made people of many nationalities feel a little closer.
