ABSTRACT

This chapter shows how drawing as a creative and engaging method of data collection that can easily transfer to the classroom. Like photography, video and film, drawing holds immense potential as a visual communication tool that can be utilised within a qualitatively participatory research and teaching framework. Participant-generated drawings seemed a logical and creative method that afforded the students the opportunity to visually explore and depict their experiences of assessment and feedback. The design of research and the tasks asked of the students is enough to say in addition to the students' drawings, they also engaged in one-to-one interviews whereby the student's drawing later acted as stimulus from which to explore and articulate their experiences. A key consideration for researchers and practitioners wishing to use this method is to ensure that they offer reassurance throughout the whole drawing process.
