ABSTRACT

My stay at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai and my participation in a two-week summer school on social justice at the Manipal University took place towards the end of my PhD work in clinical cultural psychology at the Free University of Berlin (Wiencke 2011). In this chapter, I will discuss how this three-month stay in India helped to provide new perspectives on the topic of my dissertation: health promotion. I will first sketch out the central aspects of my dissertation and then describe their relevance concerning my experiences in India.
