ABSTRACT

As one of the discussants at this Forum, my task is to evaluate the completeness and adequacy of the paper presented by Dr. Loren Potter, “The Ecology of Colorado River Reservoir Shorelines.” The following comments and discussion are based on the assumption that the term “shoreline ecology,” as submitted in the original title, is synonymous with riparian ecology which encompasses the biotic and abiotic components of the alluvial floodplain adjacent to the Upper Colorado River and its tributaries above Compact Point at Lee Ferry.
