ABSTRACT

As the mayor of Columbus, Ohio, and president of the National League of Cities, an organization representing some 15,000 cities, it is my pleasure to be here today to offer you a perspective on how municipal officials view their responsibilities in providing safe drinking water to their citizens, especially, of course, under the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act. But first, let me review the status of our nations’ cities and where they have been over the last several years.
