ABSTRACT

Allen Hammond I am going to share what I hope will be a fair, wide-open, free-for-all here this afternoon. We have heard two and a half days of discussion on what the problem is with regard to drinking water quality, and this afternoon we have a panel of experts to address the question, What do we do next? What direction should drinking water policy take at this juncture? First, I would like to introduce the panel to you. First, N. J. Davoust, retired from the Chicago Water Department; second, Robert Harris, staff scientist with the Environmental Defense Fund; third, Peter Hutt, formerly general counsel of the Federal Drug Administration and now with Covington and Burling; fourth, Victor Kimm, director of the Office of Water Supply, of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and, finally, F. Pierce Linaweaver, a private consultant and former director of public works for the City of Baltimore.
