ABSTRACT

The global use of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) as a propellant has been considerably reduced by the banning of nonessential uses of aerosols in the United States and a few other industrial countries. In particular, since the detrimental effects (on consumption, employment, and other activities) of such a ban appear to be modest, other countries may well follow suit. If so, the remaining major use of CFCs will be as refrigerants (as indicated in table 11–1).
