ABSTRACT
Because UV-B radiation generally penetrates only a few meters into water, 1 its biological effects on marine organisms have generally been discounted. Very few commercially valuable species spend a great portion of their life history that close to the surface. However, recent research suggests that UV-B can have pronounced adverse effects on marine microorganisms and on eggs and larvae of a number of marine species.
