ABSTRACT

Interest in health has increased worldwide and nature-based tourism for the pursuit of health has also grown (Hales & Low Choy, 2012). Nature-based activities are reported as providing people with a range of health-related benefits including stress-relief, attention-improvement, social relationships, physical health and emotional well-being (Doherty, Lemieux & Canally, 2014; Korpela et al., 2014; Richardson, Pearce, Mitchell & Kingham, 2013; Vella, Milligan & Bennett, 2013). As a result, the popularity of nature-based tourism and nature-based activities for the pursuit of health has also increased (Beeco & Brown, 2013; Cordell, 2012; Oftedal & Schneider, 2013).
