ABSTRACT

Google reports its customers send an average of 93 million “selfies” every day (Brandt, 2014). Twitter declared 2014 the “year of the selfie.” With such a great focus on the self-indeed, to such a degree that a new term, “selfie,” emergedone might wonder whether humility is a thing of past, an anachronistic virtue or historical relic of previous eras. If almost 34 billion selfies are being shared each year, what role does humility play in our social lives?
