ABSTRACT

Progress in land economics research depends partly upon the selection of efficient analytical procedures. But selecting the appropriate procedure is seldom easy because often research problems are complex, research resources are limited, and various methods to some extent are interchangeable. Moreover, some economists have not arrived at complete agreement philosophically on what constitutes a problem -- to say nothing of how to solve it. Nevertheless, the researcher must decide upon the procedure he will use. A basis for making this decision is the burden of this chapter.
