The Nature of Truth [1907]

This previously unpublished paper is a critique of both idealist and pragmatist views of truth. Joachim, whose philosophy Russell had examined in Papers 13 and 14, was taken as a representative of the idealist theory of truth in 15. Russell chose F. C. S. Schiller as a representative of the pragmatist (or, as Schiller called it, humanist) theory. ¹
