ABSTRACT

The basic approach to stature reconstruction has been to measure the bones from skeletons of persons whose stature in life was known. This information has then been used to develop tables or formulas relating stature to bone lengths and heights for use with bones from persons of unknown living height. The Terry and Hamann-Todd collections have been employed extensively for these types of studies. Similarly, this is one of the goals of the Forensic Anthropology Data Bank being maintained by the University of Tennessee (see Chapter 1).
