ABSTRACT
A major factor in the quality of bilingual teaching is the proper matching of
language and content, a process known with different names: sheltering, scaffolding
or integration. However, despite the existence of various investigation strands around
an issue which constitutes the core of content and language integrated learning
(CLIL) the I in the acronym for integration further attention is needed in an area too often taken for granted.
