ABSTRACT

Fred Metallic is a member of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq First Nation, which is located in the south western part of the Gaspé Peninsula (Québec, Canada), surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains and bordered in the south by the Restigouche River (www.listuguj.ca). He wrote his PhD dissertation in Mi’gmaw, and defended it in his own community. Here he speaks with Jocelyn Thorpe, one of the editors of this volume, about his process of research and writing.
