ABSTRACT
Observed and projected climate change will have significant and varying impacts on regions, ecosystems, societies and individuals. “Multiple stresses” occurring at various levels, which include endemic poverty, complex and overlapping governance, limited access to capital, as well as ecosystem degradation, increase vulnerability of several countries and regions (IPCC 2014). Various local adaptation strategies to cope with current climate variability do exist but may not be sufficient for future changes of climate (IPCC 2007, 2014).
