ABSTRACT
Those preparing for the National Psychology Examination (NPE) need to keep in mind that the number of questions assessing one’s assessment, diagnostic, and testing competence is not disproportionate to the number of questions focusing on the topics of ethics and intervention. An equal number of questions focus on ethics, assessment, and intervention (each covering 30% of the questions), with the remaining 10% covering communication issues (Psychology Board of Australia, 2013). The reader is reminded of this fact as the following chapter focusing on assessment is the largest in the current book. The amount of information related to reviewing assessment items reflects the diverse nature of assessment and the variety of tests typically used in applied psychological practice in Australia and not the weighting of the foci of the NPE.
