ABSTRACT

Festivals bring to the surface that everyone knows to be always already there, probably silent or silenced, that awaits a context, creative in the case of festivals, to emerge. As a remainder, excrement is a product of disavowal, which as it comes out of the centre of the body into a condition of rejection and dismissal (defecation), cannot return. Like in childbirth it is blocked forever by the boundaries of the body. What is stressed here is the marginal4 type’s awareness of his/her significance as a discardable element. Such awareness, along the scheme for excrementality, is accompanied by the intention to upset the hypothesis of final elimination, in which a return to the centre is not feasible.
