ABSTRACT

The work reported on by West is of special interest since it represents the efforts of specialists who are officially involved in the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of fuel production, consumption, and price data. They know, perhaps better than anyone else, the strengths and weaknesses of the data base and also have access to voluminous amounts of raw and unpublished data. Practically all energy forecasts depend heavily upon the energy data collected, processed, and published by the U.S. Department of the Interior specialists and their colleagues who prepared the forecast.
