ABSTRACT
Mr Sun is the head of the human resources department at Jiangsu. 1 DL Automobile (Group) Co. Ltd. is one of the largest automobile manufacturers in China, and owns fifteen plants globally, 45 production lines, sells 3.5 million vehicles annually, has net assets of 27 billion USD, and employs 95,000 employees worldwide. Jiangsu is the group’s subsidiary located in Jiangsu province. Jiangsu has sold over 1 million no-frills vehicles since it was founded in 2003, and currently employs over 2,300 workers. At the end of 2014, forecasts showed Jiangsu could expect a 26.6 percent decline in annual production in 2015 due to reduced market demand for no-frills vehicles. The senior managers at Jiangsu, including Mr Sun, were called to a meeting to identify symptoms of the slump and voice their suggestion to counter it.
