ABSTRACT

Initially around 1960, and again in recent years, work has gone on at Resources for the Future in what has been dubbed “comprehensive appraisal.” Basically, this refers to a long-range forward look at the “requirements” and “supply” of minerals and other resources in the U.S. economy within a comprehensive enough framework of overall economic growth and the relationships of materials to one another to avoid the kinds of errors that could be entailed in looking at materials individually.
