ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book offers various fruitful ways of stepping back from existing practices, to discern alternative directions and develop the courage to pursue more promising pathways for remaking society in a climate age. It exercises the imagination in the service of climate protection. It also explores the politics of symptomatic engineering has limits. The book widens the scope of radical thought by moving beyond a critical view of the Westphalian state system to one of modernity itself. It takes the climate change challenge into one of the ancient, fundamental, and vital preoccupations of humanity, viz., agriculture and food systems. It also examines Simon Nicholson, who reimagines climate engineering. Paul Wapner claims that one has entered a new phase of climate change that requires a fresh response.
