Properties (3) illustrate that an increase in the expected number of port calls made at port 1 would lead to a decrease in the expected number of port calls made at port 2. This result is expected since we assume qi2=1−qi1. Furthermore, the magnitude of changes in the expected number of port calls depends on each port’s transshipment level gr.
