ABSTRACT

Management accountants in Italy are not codified as such. Italy is a country characterised by small and micro firms, many of which are family owned and managed. The management accounting profession in the country is not regulated. Although management accounting is a core discipline in undergraduate management programmes, universities have only recently started offering specialised Master’s degrees in (management) accounting. Despite this, management accountants’ ability to create value is widely recognised, and many firms advertise jobs specifying the technical and personal skills to support management accountants to add value.
