ABSTRACT
The term Qalandar has a large spectrum of meanings: from a wandering pilgrim, a mendicant and an ascetic, to an organized group of dervishes. As the Qalandarî tradition was inherently opposed to norms of any kind, its essential effects are best seen in other, more structured traditions that existed in the geographic area with which Qalandars had rich interactions.
