ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of the case study method and discusses the characteristics of successful and failing organisations. It shows the results of the case study method to critically evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate, business and operational level strategies. The chapter explores structure ideas and arguments in an effective manner and deals with how to synthesise qualitative and quantitative material. It seeks to provide an overview of how to perform case study analysis and help is provided for systematic analysis through the introduction of a series of templates. The chapter provides an outline of how to approach case study questions. There are many ways for students to approach the analysis of business case studies. In case study analysis many students find it difficult to sift the data for useful information. But case study analysis offers a new dimension.
