ABSTRACT

The findings of this study show that the TFP scores of China’s health care system (both medical and public health services) decreased from 2009 to 2011, with a greater deterioration seen in the public health sector. The Malmquist index for most regions was continuously less than 1 over the period under study, and the lowest score was found in the central region. The implementation of the new health care system reform in 2009 had no significant influence on medical service efficiency and significantly reduced public health service efficiency.
