ABSTRACT
The generally prevailing scholarly view, today, is that Shakespeare’s philosophical knowledge is no more than rudimentary and perfunctory. Blits’s chapter shows, on the contrary, that Shakespeare has a superb understanding not only of Stoic doctrines but of how adherence to them can shape a person’s life and soul.
