ABSTRACT

As the threat of corruption continues to cast a dark shadow over the sport industry, many national and international governing bodies and federations are trying to reform – both in terms of their strategies for dealing with corruption and to ensure that they themselves do not facilitate or perpetuate this kind of activity. This chapter, building on the work of Mitchell, Crossett, and Barr (1999), evaluates six strategies to encourage compliance and discusses how sport organisations are trying to reform in order to ensure athletes, coaches, and officials in sport are following the rules of the game.
