ABSTRACT

COUPLE RELATIONSHIP SATISFACTION DeLuccie (1995) empirically demonstrated that marital relationship is a potential predictor of mothers’ satisfaction with paternal behaviour, whereas Simmerman et al. (2001) showed the reverse effect such that mothers’ satisfaction with fathers’ involvement contributed to marital adjustment. The latter authors concluded that the direction of influence was still unclear and suggested that the relation between mothers’ satisfaction with fathers’ involvement and marital satisfaction be considered further by dyadic assessments of these variables. Krishnakumar and Black (2003) also pointed to relationship satisfaction as a potential predictor of mothers’ satisfaction with paternal behaviour and declared that parenting efficacy was a moderator of that relation. These studies all provide evidence that relationship satisfaction is a relevant predictor of mothers’ satisfaction with paternal behaviour.
