ABSTRACT
This introduction chapter of book gives an overview of key concepts in the subsequent chapters. The book is about the social life of methods within the critical political economy tradition, by it demands a new reflexivity about methods in critical research. By presenting methodologically informed ways of researching, enriched by real-life accounts from academics doing empirical research, the volume seeks to forge a new collaborative path that builds a critical ethic and modes of inquiry within international political economy. Promoting the reimagining of methods and pluralist methodology within cultural and critical political economy requires some imagination and a great deal of determination. The book offers real-life examples of critical methodologies at work; in turn, allows for collective reflection on methods shape research agendas within critical political economy. This is a unique experiment in knowledge creation because it seeks to further methodological innovations within the critical school, especially with respect to promoting new forms of empirical research.
