ABSTRACT

Television systems throughout the world incorporate, as their basis, a method for transmission of the synchronized combination of sound and moving pictures, first realized by analog means, and later, by digital technologies. The countries of Europe delayed the adoption of an analog color television system, and between 1953 and 1967 a number of alternative systems were devised that were compatible with the existing 625-line, 50-field monochrome systems. The major differences among the three main analog systems of National Television System Committee, phase alternation by line, and sequential couleur avec memoire are in the specific modulating processes used for encoding and transmitting the chrominance information. The first system to be developed in the early 1990s was the Advanced Television Systems Committee system. Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB)-S is the specification for the first generation version of the DVB digital satellite system. Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting is a broadcasting system that realizes high-definition television-based multimedia services.
