ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the methods of video camera usage, and focuses on a broad scope of production tools, including those used in television studio productions, such as news, talk, and game/talent shows, and also certain supports relevant to episodics, award shows, commercials, and sports. It covers a different kind of gyroscope is used in the brushless gimbal systems. There are a few different incarnations of remotely operated camera cranes that are designed for mounting onto camera cars and other moving transports. Stepping can also be a problem, when the camera movement does not create a smooth diagonal, but instead incorrectly alternates between panning and tilting. Balancing the camera on convenient surfaces for a shot can provide a momentary respite as an operator moves through the potential stances. Certain methods can allow a camera operator to be more effective with a monopod and to be possibly quick and nimble, with a bit of practice.
