ABSTRACT

We find that while the ecological resilience literature champions the idea of integrating social resilience concepts within adaptive management regimes, we concur with others that there has been an intellectual disconnect between the sociologically-and psychologically-based social resilience literature and the biophysically-based concepts concerning the function of socio-ecological systems. There has also been a disconnect between the more positivist SA and SIA literature, the social resilience literature and ecological concepts of adaptive management.
