ABSTRACT

The reconstruction of Monument G, features Jozica Avbelj and Matjaz Jarc, so the original cast, and in addition to them, Teja Reba and Bostjan Narat, who were both born after Monument G. The basic dramaturgical characteristic of the reconstruction is the reference to the original performance, which is very poorly documented. Avbelj carries in her memory a long acting career that filters her view of Monument G, Reba approaches from a dancing perspective, with a knowledge of movement and substantially less experience. A complex relationship is established between them of mutual reference and of individual and joint reference to the absent source. Monument G shows that, with its thematisation of the past, it created the possibilities that, in the reconstruction, the thematisation refers to the performance itself. Reba, therefore, does not refer only to the absent original but also to the history of what happened between the original and the reconstructed Monument G.
