ABSTRACT

Figure 2 exemplifies the frequency of successful, unsuccessful and cancelled projects for each category group and demonstrates that projects from the Music and Theatre category expose by far more successful than unsuccessful crowdfunding efforts. The data reveal that most reward-based crowdfunding projects come from the Film (117), Music (66), Theatre (66), Publishing (46) and Art (37) categories and demonstrate that reward-based crowdfunding platforms such as Kickstarter are exploited by entrepreneurs that are aiming to explore ‘new ways to raise funds for creative projects’
