ABSTRACT

In the contemporary globalised world, migration and flow of people across the world is an inevitable phenomenon. Some idea of this can be had from the fact that each year over 200 million people migrate globally from one country to another in search of gainful employment. International migration generally involves movement of people from low-income countries to high-income countries. During the past few decades, the Persian Gulf region has been one such area which has witnessed tremendous economic development due to its oil economy. This oil boom in the Gulf countries has attracted a large number of workers from around the world. South Asians constitute an important segment of this labour force.
