ABSTRACT
IR theory-FPA divide and by proceeding through a critique of the understandings of dialectics
in mainstream Marxism, the objective of this paper is to clarify how a specific understanding of
dialectics-the dialectics of the concrete-may help to provide the missing epistemological
foundations for bridging this gap within mainstream and Marxist IR approaches.
