ABSTRACT

Computer-based technology has been changing the way we perceive reality in many ways, including the ways we access information and build our knowledge of the world. Unlike the field of text encoding, analysis and philology, where a longer tradition provides ascertained references to scholars and researchers, the field of audio document preservation is relatively new and lacks a background of knowledge and experience. So, the criteria by which a digitized or born-digital document is to be classified as authentic, reliable and accurate need to be redefined.
