ABSTRACT

TA pedagogy has core themes, including observing, analysis and the intensification of conscious and constructive learning processes. This concerns the learning of new materials as well as understanding the group dynamic process. As teachers of school children, trainers and teachers in adult learning, educational transactional analysts have some expertise in these processes. If mutual respect and trust between teacher and learner is missing or even abused, the effect can have longstanding consequences which can influence how the individual thinks, feels and behaves in subsequent learning relationships. Moral development and self-effectiveness can both be regarded as learning processes which are supported through TA and meditation, which stimulate cognitive and emotional restructuring which have the potential to stabilize people in difficult situations. Cognitive psychology investigates higher mental processes such as perception, memory, problem solving and abstract thinking. In this context, 'cognition' refers to 'processes of knowledge including attentiveness, memory and deduction'.
