ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the educational and social dimension of permission. Transactional Analysis (TA) offers a model of human psychology which emphasizes the influence of social and cultural process that promotes change and growth. The quality of the relationship is essential to the process of permission development and Early Years are essential. This is the time and space where children connect with their potential, receive permission from inspiring role models and test their capacities in a protective and permissive environment. There is also an increasing tendency to value precocity wanting children to learn early and fast to encourage results and productivity instead of supporting the learning process and the individuality. In childhood, an individual builds up a sense of self, that is to say the conception of self and how that combines with what is expected within a given environment, within relationships and social systems.
