ABSTRACT
Contracting is a powerful tool which features in the author's professional practice as a teacher. Contracting is a process in which one or more people commit themselves to do something. Steiner defined four conditions for the creation of a healthy contract: mutual consent, reciprocal obligation, competence, and legal objective. Parents are obliged to the institution by a social contract in the sense of Rousseau; a convention that exists between the governing and the governed, or between the members of a society. Children adapt to the rules of the establishment and receive in return knowledge and know-how, which enable them to progress to the next level of class. The Adult deals with the information that they already have, along with the new information provided via perception which renders them more powerful.
