ABSTRACT

Educational transactional analysis is not just about working with children and young people, although working with children and young people is, of course, one of the key ways of initiating change in attitudes, expectations and hopes: the areas of adult education, professional training, community development, are also fertile ground for the insights of transactional analysis in its social psychology and social responsibility manifestations. Symbiosis is another key idea in adult and community education. The readiness and accessibility of transactional analysis models for understanding what goes on in school, in adult education and in community projects; for sharing with learners or for designing teaching and intervention strategies, has a great appeal. A liberal learning group often fits with people's cultural and actual experience of being taught, with a teacher who is the expert and novice pupils, and a focus on imparting knowledge and information.
