ABSTRACT

Tomoko Abe held Transactional Analysis (TA) study groups for parents at three private kindergartens from 1993-10. In describing the concepts of TA theories with diagrams, this symbiosis can be visualized and understood effectively by TA beginners in order to feel autonomy. She always offer the following four ground rules and ask if they have any questions and if her explanation was enough for them understand. In the workshop, she aimed to help the parents, not only to be aware of the existence of symbiosis, but also to get specific ways to release them from such relationships. Explanations of TA theory applied in their daily life deepen their understanding; the group will remember to use that theory during the following month as their homework. Her experiences with these parenting groups over twelve years show that if people get some kind of clue to engage and start functioning in Adult, they can avoid symbiotic relationships and get out from their scripts.
