ABSTRACT

In 'Teaching, Learning, Schooling and Script', Barrow suggests that the process of forming of the script is continuous and is not only the result of a certain period during childhood. When people are asked about their experiences at school, they talk about the behaviour of teachers that had affected them, both in a positive and negative manner. The teacher makes the difference when it comes to creating a safe learning environment. It is very important that all teachers, whether working with children or adults, are aware of the effects they have when communicating. When teachers explore their own script they come to know possible triggers for script behaviour, non-autonomy-encouraging reactions and interventions. Teachers who use their positive ego states consciously have a greater impact on the learning process of their students. This also contributes to the overall quality of their education.
